Poplin is the commercial name for a finely ribbed, plain weave fabric. The name poplin is merely a commercial term and is not limited to a certain type of fibre. Poplin can be produced from cotton, silk, wool, rayon, polyester or a blend of fibres. Cotton poplin is an especially thick, shiny and refined cotton fabric which is as uncomplicated and robust as cotton itself. There are also common features in care and stain removal. However, make sure there is no dust on the clothing before removing stains, because it will get ingrained in the fabric.
Poplin fabrics are used mainly for coats and jackets, but also for trousers, dresses, shirts and blouses.
